When they join the network of affiliated MAP centers known as Swiss Fertility Care, the doctors specializing in reproductive medicine, all at the head of their IVF programs, give priority to an ethical, global and psycho-bio-social approach to the desire for a child. As such, they personally accompany patients on a daily basis throughout the infertility investigation and treatment process as a whole person, with their own personal history, environment and, above all, affects, integrating this fully into the various treatments offered in accordance with the ESHRE (European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology) or ASRM (American Society for Reproductive Medicine) guidelines.

PSYCHOLOGICAL CARE FOR INFERTILE COUPLES

Swiss Fertility Care offers psychological assistance before, during and after treatment, based on two axes: preventive and therapeutic by psychologists or psychiatrists, and day-to-day support by medical specialists in line with ESHRE recommendations.

Psychiatric care is provided by the patient’s psychiatrist, with telephone or letter contact if necessary, to identify any contraindications to MAP treatment. In the absence of psychological follow-up, two Swiss Fertility Care referral psychiatrists assist patients or couples facing the challenges of MAP. Dr Elodie GIRARD organizes monthly discussion groups to share experiences, while Dr Francesco Bianchi de-Micheli specializes in couples’ sexuality problems.
